Helen Gu – Founder and CEO of InsightFinder
In today’s digital world, companies are challenged with keeping tech running while trying to avoid disruptions.
InsightFinder helps make this responsibility easier. The startup helps organizations find, prioritize, and resolve tech anomalies before they escalate into expensive outages. By leveraging advanced AI, InsightFinder provides IT ops teams with predictive insights and early warnings, minimizing potential disruptions and optimizing operational efficiency.
As data volumes surge, manual anomaly detection has become more time intensive. InsightFinder helps speed up this process by delivering rapid, informed predictions and alerts.
“Given the need for technology to have continuous reliability, using AI to help IT operation stability seems like the ideal application,” said Helen Gu, Founder and CEO of InsightFinder.
InsightFinder boasts an impressive client roster including Google Cloud, Visa, Dell, China Mobile, and Lenovo. The company has raised nearly $15 million in venture capital funding, including a $10 million in Series A in 2022.
A leading credit card company trusts InsightFinder to determine possible reasons why some real-time transactions failed by analyzing mass amounts of transaction log data such as a database issue or network problems.
“We shortened the process from hours to milliseconds,” said Gu.
InsightFinder is also important for industries where uptime is critical, such as pharmaceuticals. For a drug manufacturer, maintaining uninterrupted IT systems is not just beneficial but essential, as any downtime directly impacts drug production and results in significant financial loss.
In the spring of 2024, InsightFinder joined the Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs: Vertical AI Accelerator to support its expansion into the enterprise market.
“Having the opportunity to learn how to navigate the processes of a large corporation like Comcast, from procurement to stakeholder engagement, is priceless.”

Building a Future-Proof IT Landscape: InsightFinder’s Foundational Vision
Gu’s career has been dedicated to enhancing technological efficiency, from her PhD research improving NASA’s video streaming between Mars and Earth to her tenure at IBM ensuring real-time system reliability. After publishing academic research on using AI algorithms for reliability, Google made her a visiting scientist. She founded InsightFinder shortly after, in 2016, after securing a sizable grant from the National Science Foundation.
Her vision for InsightFinder was inspired by personal and professional challenges such as spending hours sifting through mountains of code to debug problems. Her husband, also a software engineer, was called to work in the middle of the night to fix a production issue — on the same night, their beloved family dog died.
“My husband actually had to work the whole night.” recalled Gu. “It’s moments like those when I realized that IT teams really need InsightFinder.”
Looking forward, InsightFinder is focused on becoming the ubiquitous solution for anomaly detection, aiming to equip every device with its technology to help safeguard digital operations globally.
