FAQs
This program differs from a traditional accelerator in many ways:
- This program is not just for pre-seed companies aiming to raise a seed round. We have a track record of working with startups at different stages to deliver long-term commercial partnerships between our business and theirs.
- In-person commitments are highly tailored to a startup’s specific path to partnership with Comcast. This is about accelerating traction with our business, not supporting the general growth of a startup which is the aim of more traditional accelerators.
- Each cohort will only include 6-8 companies, allowing for a much more tailored, 1:1 approach, so no one-size-fits-all programming.
The program ensures Comcast has the opportunity to learn about and evaluate fundraising rounds, but any investment is subject to standard negotiations and mutual agreement.
Comcast and its affiliates may choose to invest in select startups in the program, but participation in LIFT Labs does not guarantee funding.
We would prefer that the founding team members participate. We understand that commitments come up, so if other senior employees outside the founding team need to fill in for a session or two, that is acceptable.
The program is designed to build long-term relationships with Comcast NBCUniversal. It begins with an in-person engagement at our Philadelphia headquarters, where founders connect with executives and key teams.
Startups continue to engage through additional touchpoints and tailored engagements as partnerships evolve. The Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs team also provides ongoing support, including introductions and guidance through enterprise processes like vendor onboarding, security review, and legal approval.
Each accelerator cohort will include six to eight companies.
No. While the goal of LIFT Labs engagements is to explore potential pilots, proofs of concept, or commercial partnerships, outcomes depend on alignment with business priorities and technical requirements.
That said, 90% of LIFT Labs portfolio companies have gone on to launch pilots, proofs of concept, or commercial agreements with Comcast NBCUniversal businesses.
